dry hair treatment at home

Do you suffer from dry and damaged hair and looking for a dry hair treatment at home? If so, welcome to the club! Dry hair is one of the most common of all hair problems for both men and women. It shouldn’t come as any surprise, either. Consider that the average person’s hair has to put up with climatic issues like sun, wind, rain, cold and so on.

And then to top it off, many people further subject their hair to heat from blow dryers and curling irons, chemicals for coloring and perms, and a host of other treatments designed to make hair look better – but not necessarily any healthier.

Fortunately, there are many home remedies and commercial products available that are designed to tackle dry and damaged hair. One of the most effective, but not necessarily most popular, home remedies for dry and damaged hair is the use of mayonnaise as a damaged hair mask.

Yep – you heard me right – mayonnaise! As you can imagine, this isn’t the least messy of cures out there, and I would not consider getting too close to a loved one during the process, but it does work great as a hair treatment. Just make sure you use mayonnaise if you go this route – and not salad dressing.

There is a big difference, and you only need to make that mistake once to understand what I am talking about. If you are okay with store purchased remedies, then you will be glad to know that you can forego some of the downsides of using an all-natural solution, like that of mayonnaise described above.

These days virtually every major manufacturer of hair care products, including professional salon brands and your discount brand lines, offers hair care treatments aimed specifically at those who suffer from dry and damaged hair. Many of these work as simple conditioners that you either wash out or leave in your hair.

Be sure you do follow the instructions, as you don’t want to leave a product in your hair that is meant to be washed out, for example. Other “hot oil” dry hair treatments are also available which coat and penetrate your hair with specially formulated oil to help fix your dry hair problem.

Some of the treatments may be used daily, while others are designed to be used once with follow up of periodic maintenance treatments, as required. Of course, how often you will be required to use any particular treatment will depend on factors such as your hair’s exposure to the sun, water and wind, whether or not you regularly blow-dry or use a hot curling iron on your hair, and so on.

Each individual will need to assess their situation and monitor their hair’s condition regularly. Once you settle on a particular product or type of product, most people will develop a simple routine for managing this problem. Don’t be afraid to experiment a little bit with different solutions, either.

Each person’s hair is different than the next, and what works great for your best friend may not be the best product for you. Persistence and patience will pay off however, so stick with it!

These are other solutions for dry hair treatment that were shared with me by my sister, so I decided to share them with you.

1) Safflower oil For Dry Hair

Start by placing a couple of drops of the safflower oil into your palms, proceed to rub them together; You will then want to take your hair and begin to massage a small amount of oil into your hair starting with the ends first and work toward the scalp; Leave this in your hair for roughly 20-30 minutes.

Safflower oil is remarkably close to the natural oils in your hair and is readily absorbed by the hair and retained. This allows it to do the same job as the oils you are missing which makes your hair dry. This is for a relatively mild case of dry hair for a more moderate case try the next option.

2) Olive oil to Moisturize Your Hair

Start by warming up one half a cup of olive oil; You will then want to take the olive oil and begin to massage it through your hair; You will then want to wrap your hair in plastic, followed by wrapping your head in a warm towel; Leave your hair like this for 30 minutes.

Wash out using a shampoo that is suited for dry hair, these are available at your local store or hair salon. This procedure may sound like something you would find being done in an upscale southern California salon. The truth is you would find this being done in some of the more premier salons.

Not because its part of the latest fad of using naturals and food for beauty but because for generations it’s been know to work wonders for fry damaged hair. The olive oil has a wide range of chemical compounds, especially complex proteins which feed hair and leave it soft, bouncy and manageable.

The natural shining ability of olive oil is great for giving you a brilliant shimmer without a lot of pricey brand name lotions. Again this is for a moderate case and should solve the problem for most mid-range cases but for those with a severe case of dry hair or those who just want to give their hair and intense therapy, try the next and most intensive treatment solution

3) Egg Everyone Has It In Their Refrigerator

You will want to separate the egg whites of an egg from the yolk after you do this you will want to beat the white thoroughly. Next, add one tablespoon of water to the egg yolk that you separated and mix until the mixture is creamy. After you have done this you will want to blend the white and yolk.

You will then want to make sure your head is thoroughly wet and apply the mixture to your head using the tips of your fingers. Rinse your head extremely well making sure to get all the mixture out of your hair. Here you are introducing pure proteins and amino acids into the hair and are allowing the hair to absorb them intensively.

You should perform the egg treatment 2-3 times a week for 3-4 weeks. Using a milk and honey rinse on the days that you are not using the egg. Once you have achieved the desired results continue to use the milk and honey treatment 2-3 times a week and the egg treatment every 7-10 days (not on the same days) to keep your hair silky smooth and lively.

Using these treatments I hope you find the solution to your dry hair problems. These treatments have been proven to work and are relatively cheap and easy to perform. The items are easily available from your local grocery store and you can apply the treatments yourself with no help in under five minutes. I guess it’s true what they say, listen to your mother, she does know everything.

Don’t let dry and damaged hair get you down. If you’re like most, you’ve probably got enough other issues you’re faced with daily without letting something as manageable as this get in your way. Search around the web, talk to your friends and don’t rule out consulting with a salon hair care professional if you aren’t happy with the results of your efforts. The solution is out there – you just need to find the one that is best for you.
